CFC awarded Sir John Fisher Foundation Grant

We are delighted to have been awarded a grant of up to £3000 to support an ambitious arts programme with Rambert Dance Company and selected schools in the Furness area.

The programme will give participants an in-depth experience of making music and dance. It will also develop students’ skills and confidence, as well as providing creative opportunities which they would not otherwise experience.

The programme will follow on from a short residency in 2011, hosted by Dowdales School. Julie O’Connor, Headteacher at the school, said: “This is a real coup for all of the schools involved and I am delighted that we have been able to work with Creative Futures Cumbria to make this happen. Rambert is the nation’s leading company in contemporary dance and this programme will give our students the opportunity to access the arts at the very highest level.”

This next phase will begin later in 2012 and will start by introducing participants to Rambert’s repertoire, giving them the opportunity to use it as a starting point from which they can then go on to create their own work.
