CRB Processing now available (and its cheaper)

The process of applying for CRB checks is going to change over the coming months to a Vetting and Barring Scheme.  There is a summary of the timescale for this process below and full details can be found on the Vetting and Barring website. Due to the size of the transition from CRB to VBS, it is being phased in over 5 years.  It will be the employers responsibility to check that the applicant has applied to register before any employment (or volunteering) is offered. 

What does this mean for you?

You will need to have a CRB form issued in the last two years to remain on our on-line directory.  We realise that if you are in employment, your employer may not require you to re-apply for a CRB check.  Our systems and procedures require that we only allow people to be on our directory if their CRB has been issued in the last 2 years.

If your renewal date comes up before July 2010, you will need to apply for a new CRB form.

If your renewal date comes up after July 2010, you can apply for an ISA registration under the new system.

We have recently discovered a cheaper option for processing CRB forms. The cost is now £55 for an Enhanced Disclosure.  You will need to let us know that you wish to have a CRB Ehnaced Disclosure processed through us and we will ask the new organisation to send you a pack with full guidance details.  If you would like to apply through this system, please contact us.  You will need to send a cheque for £55, made payable to Cumbria Arts in Education, to Creative Futures Cumbria, 1b Hobson Court, Penrith 40 Business Park, Gillan Way, Penrith, CA11 9GQ, along with a note explaining you wish to apply for a CRB before we can arrange for a form to be sent to you.

You will need to provide original documents (passport, drivinglicence, utility bills, birth certificate etc - full details will be sent out to you in your pack) in order for us to process your application.  These will need to be presented, in person, at Ullswater Community College.
