Creative Development Grant Guidelines

CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT GRANT GUIDELINES dated 24 February 2010: Creative Futures Cumbria

Creative Futures Cumbria aims to:
• Develop opportunities for children, young people and adults in Cumbria to work with creative practitioners
• Secure an increase in the equality of opportunity and access for young people and adults to the arts and creative learning in Cumbria

All applicants must contact Viv West, Project Manager, (viv@creativefuturescumbria.org) to discuss proposed applications at an early stage of planning and prior to submission.

How much can I apply for?
Between £500 and £750 towards creative practitioner fees. Please note: applicants must contribute a minimum of 25% of the creative practitioner(s) fee(s) from other sources, eg school funds and/or other grants/sources.

Timescale
Deadline for applications: Monday 19th April 2010
Decisions by Monday 11th May 2010
Projects need to be completed AND EVALUATION SUBMITTED/GRANT CLAIMED by 1st December 2010 OR within 4 weeks of the end of the project, WHICHEVER IS THE SOONER.

What we can fund:
• Professional fees for creative practitioners working in education or other learning contexts involving either one art form or a number of different art forms
• Opportunities to engage through work with creative practitioners in different settings, eg libraries, heritage sites, public spaces, galleries, museums and archives

What we cannot fund:
• Projects that have already started or have been completed
• Projects that do not have a high level of participation, eg performances, readings or concerts where participants are members of the audience; materials, subsistence, travel etc

Who is eligible to apply?
Applications can be considered from:
• Primary, secondary and special schools, early years provision, eg nurseries, pre-schools
• Pupil Referral Units, FE & HE institutions, Youth groups
• Community providers working with young people eg. Children’s Centres
• Arts and cultural/heritage organisations, individual creative practitioners, creative groups
• Adult groups with an emphasis on supporting the creative learning of children/young people

Who is NOT eligible to apply?
• Schools that are currently in receipt of funding through the Creative Partnerships Programme as a Change or Enquiry School during the academic year 2009/10, 2010/11
• Schools or other individuals and organisations that have been awarded funding under the Cumbria Arts in Education/Creative Futures Cumbria Open Grants programme in all of the last three consecutive years, ie in 2007/8, 2008/9 and 2009/10.
• Private or independent schools

It is a condition that all creative practitioners hold CRB dated within the last 2 years and PLI up to £5m. However, unless contracted directly by Creative Futures Cumbria, it is the responsibility of schools, community/other groups etc working with the creative practitioners and NOT of Creative Futures Cumbria to ensure that these are checked.
