Two day workshop opportunity at Rosehill Theatre
Site Responsive Theatre and Adventures in the Real World
A unique two-day workshop experience by CONEY at Rosehill Theatre, Whitehaven
When?
Sat 4th February- Sunday 5th February 2012
Who is it for?
Actors, writers, devisers, performers and any professional and emerging theatre-makers and artists interested in site-specific and interactive work are invited to attend this two-day workshop hosted by Tom Bowtell and Mimi Poskitt of Coney.
What?
Participants will explore an array of techniques for making interactive experiences outside of traditional spaces in a workshop which combines practical experimentation and play with theoretical exploration. At the heart of the workshop will be responsiveness: theatre which responds to its location and the people in that location.
We will explore techniques such as Secret Agent Training from Coney's workshop platform (watching everyday people, noting their behaviour and speculating on their lives to create narrative), interview and documenting (finding notable individuals to interview, and then using the texts to generate material), Invisible Theatre techniques, Performance Art and other fun ways of generating theatre in urban environments.
Where?
The two day workshop will begin at Rosehill Theatre, Whitehaven before spreading out into other locations around Whitehaven and Workington as participants put their techniques into practice.
The workshop will run from 10am-4pm on both days and lunch will be included. There is no public transport between Whitehaven town centre and Rosehill Theatre, however minicabs are easily available.
Please note: Our rendevouz point on Sunday 5th will be Workington town centre.
Cost
£20
